In our last Milk & Bone session last Sunday, we spent some good time looking at the comparison between Religion and Christianity, our discussion with the backings of the Bible help us to agree that Christianity is not a religion but a way of life.

The best practice to help identify a fake currency is to know all the features of the authentic currency note; in another word, don't try to know the fake but the original because once you know all the features of the original you will discover they will be missing in the fake note (see matthew 7:16)

Understand the Yoke

For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments. And His commandments are not burdensome - 1 John 5:3; Jesus goes further to say Take my yoke upon you; Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light - Matthew 11:29-30

Everything about the ways of Jesus were designed to draw us closer to the heart of the Father, he came over 2000 years ago to model a way to walk in the paths that are pleasing to our heavenly Father so as to remain the people of his pasture.

In Christianity some of the expected yokes that Jesus talked about are forgiveness, Prayerful life, living a lifestyle that honours God (Righteousness), becoming like God through the examples of Jesus (Holiness), lifestyle of Charity but to mention a few; all this attributes seek to transform us from our sinful lifestyle that we inherited through the Adamic nature to the new life of transformation and acceptance in Jesus.

The yoke of religion on the other hand seek to keep people under bundage and a lifestyle where people feel like they can never do enough, the list can be unending from the kind of food that one shouldn't eat, to color intimidation, the need for ritual or sacrifice to make atonement to gods, keeping particular types of objects at home, in the car, or in the body for protection; failure to do all this create a set belief for expectation of disaster.

The Search For Freedom

Nobody want to be in bondage of any kind (financial, health, mental, etc...) and we will do anything to have some signs of relief; to those that are far from the light of the saving and forgiving love of Jesus, they pursue way out through mediums of consultation to dead gods, sacrifices and rituals to man made images, association in the occultic or withcraft just to be safe or protected but all this in the longterm add more to the worries because there is no other means under heaven through which we can be saved except by the name of Jesus (see Acts 4:12)

There is nothing more bursensome compares to knowing that eating from a set of dishes will bring badluck; putting on a particular color is the reason for the setback; except by approval with the pastor or imam you can't meet your husband or wife; travelling on certain days brings ill-luck; keeping a particular hair will make one spiritually powerful; sleeping with a particular covering cloth will increase fortunes; sacrificing animals or loved ones will bring turnaround; the list are many but the bible says, it is for this reasons that Jesus set us free so as not be slaves but friends (see John 12:27 & John 15:15)

Many of the freedom we are seeking today has already been purchased on the cross but the inability to receive light over many issues is what some religious leaders are using to keep many in shackles, Jesus said he came that we may have light and have it more abundantly (see John 10:10), there are many Christian leaders in the world today that out of selfish glorification, they seek to conceal the truth from their followers so as to mantain the position of "Holier than thou" hence making situation that should appear easy look difficult and denying their followers access to the truth of the gospel.

It may be suprising to hear that the solution and freedom we are searching for today were established through three intensive nights of violent non stop battle in the grave, it took Jesus three nights to subdue the power of the grave and he disarm all their power and triumphantly emerging as the world undisputed king of Glory when he took the key of the grave, subdue it's power and shamed them to that power contest in the tomb (see 1 Corinthians 15:54-55)

Conclusion

When you were dead in your sins and in the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made you alive with Christ. He forgave us all our sins, having canceled the charge of our legal indebtedness, which stood against us and condemned us; he has taken it away, nailing it to the cross, and having disarmed the powers and authorities, he made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them by the cross (see Colossians 2:13-15)

Presently, nobody is trying to invent his or her own pen to be able to write because that has been done, there is no point re-inventing what has been, Jesus has come as the true messiah to disengage us from a place of condemnation and bring us to a place of sonship with the father where we can shout Abba Father (Daddy, Daddy) - Galatians 4:6; Jesus has done all the job ours is to rejoice and be glad for the grace - Hallelujah.
